National Archaeological Discoveries

The stamp design features one of the most famous archaeological finds in the Czech Republic, the sandstone head of a Celt from Mšecké Žehrovice. The designer has placed it in a stylised display case, symbolising museum exhibition practices. The blue sky in the background alludes to the spiritual and even transcendent dimension of the artifact. As the only example of monumental Celtic sculpture found in the Czech Republic, this head stands as an unparalleled archaeological discovery. The artwork is inspired by the sculpture and incorporates the painting technique that leans towards realism and almost achieves photorealism in its depiction. The sculptural representation immediately captures attention with its illusion of depth and sense of space.

Beauties of Our Country: Pálava Hills

The ruins of the Gothic castle Dívčí hrady, also known as Děvičky, situated on a limestone cliff of the Pálava Hills. This view is from the south, taken from an advanced artillery bastion built in 1529. It is spring, and on the sunny rocky steppes, the low iris and the yellow spring adonis are in bloom. The low iris displays colours of violet-blue, yellow, and occasionally white. Nestled beneath Pálava is the village of Pavlov, with its adjoining vineyards and the expansive Nové Mlýny reservoir.

Expo 2025 Osaka: Alfons Mucha

Mucha’s first series of decorative panels, The Seasons, released in Paris in 1896. These were posters without text, intended purely for artistic use or for decorating interior walls. The set of four panels depicts the seasons as ethereal nymphs, with appearances and moods capturing the essence of each season.

A special edition commemorates Czechia‘s participation at EXPO 2025, held on the artificial island of Yumeshima in Osaka, Japan, from April 13 to October 13, 2025.

Coinage launch – gold florin and Prague groschen

The stamps depict both sides of the coins, with Latin inscriptions referencing the text from the respective coins. Bold typography lends the stamps a fitting sense of dignity and majesty. The coins weave between the letters, creating an airy and elegant effect. The designer of the issue drew inspiration from artifacts associated with Václav II – specifically, the Prague groschen and John of Luxembourg’s florin.
